Saving for a Sunny Day with Suntrust Bank- Buying a Home

Suntrust Bank makes it possible for you to save for your Sunny Days. Like buying a new home!
Buying a home is a very exciting. But, at the same time it can be nerve-wracking. My husband and I just bought our first house almost a year ago and I remember the mixed emotions that it caused. One moment you are super excited and then the next I was so worried about having the money to afford everything. Especially those unexpected costs.

That's where Suntrust comes in. Suntrust makes it possible for you to save for those unexpected expenses. For those of you who are homeowners, or expecting to be a homeowner in the near future, know that there will be those unexpected bills.

10 Money Saving Tips- Make Your House Feel Like a Home:

  1. Determine your budget before you begin. Lets face it... If we didn't have a budget, our homes would be decorated completely.
  2. Get the necessities first. Like couches, a TV, dining room table, bed, dishes, silverware, food, etc.
  3. Update your existing furniture. It will be much cheaper for you to have those ugly chairs reupholstered than for you to buy brand new ones.
  4. Visit garage sales, tag sales, thrift stores or search online for items that people are either selling or giving away for free. One mans trash is another mans treasure :)
  5. Shop clearance sections of stores. Just because it's on clearance does not mean that there is anything wrong with it.
  6. Do a lot of online research. If you like a product, search for that product online and see who has it cheapest. Have it shipped and save gas money :)
  7. Adding a fresh paint of coat makes all the difference to a room. Paint it the most affordable decorating tool.
  8. Visit local home improvement stores in your area and ask them about their free, hands on classes. You can learn how to make your own home d├ęcor, paint, etc. Also check local craft stores.
  9. Have a decorating party instead of a housewarming party. Invite your family and friends over to help you paint, hang pictures and move in your furniture. This saves you money on having to hire help. Plus, everyone is just as excited as you are to see your new home. Have them help you decorate it.
  10. If you are crafty, make your own quilts, blankets, wreaths, pillows, etc. Plus, it'll be one of a kind. Which I love :)
