MaxxHaul Cargo Carrier Review

Welcome to His Hive on A Sampling Bee! Today, I share with you a Cargo Carrier from MaxxHaul. Maxxhaul focuses on providing towing products in North America. Providing their customers with only the best, high quality products, MaxxHaul is always striving to improve and be better. MaxxHaul has a wide range of product available. Including ramps, hitch balls, ball mounts, truck accessories, etc. I got to test Model No. 70108. This Cargo Carrier has high side rails and can hold up to 500lbs of cargo. This 2"x 2" hitch receiver cargo carrier weighs 28.5lbs.

Product Features & Details:

Built-in reflectors for added safety
Sturdy aluminum construction
Meets and exceeds SAE standards
Inside Carrier Size- 47" x 20-1/2" x 5"
Overall Carrier Size- 49" x 22-1/4" x 6"

When I got it:

The product came from MaxxHaul very quickly. When I took the contents out of the package, I was impressed with what the manufacturer included easy to follow instructions, quality aluminum components, and a pre assembled bottom basket and upper edge of the basket. I was happy to see this kit came with rear mounted red reflectors (remember this basket will stick out almost 3 feet past your tail lights). The kit has safety precaution and load rating placards that are used as part of assembly. Most of all I was happy to see that the cargo carrier included a hitch pin!

What I did:

As a father, a husband, and a full time employee, I was relieved with the ease of assembly. I had the cargo carrier mounted to my wife's car in about 30 minutes. I needed a "Phillips" screwdriver, a 7mm socket and a 10 mm socket. I used a 1/4" ratchet and the screw driver to securely fasten the machine screws to the nylock nuts (you will not need thread locker). There are many smaller screws that are used to fasten the upper edge of the basket to the main basket. I loosely fastened the predrilled aluminum plated to the bottom basket. When all the plated were on, I lowered the top edge of the carrier on to the plates and I fastened the top edge to the plated with the remaining screws and nuts. Once everything was aligned I made a final pass and secured the fasteners and viola! the basket was formed. There are 8 longer machine screws with 16 washers & eight 10mm nylock nuts allow you to easily connect the aluminum basket assembly to the steel receiver tube. My cargo carrier was born!

How it turned out:

One word: Great! This cargo carrier is light weight and is supportive of large bulky items that take up too much space of vehicle interiors (wagons, coolers, suit cases). I would caution those who look to use this carrier at capacity of 500lbs that the weight needs to be distributed evenly and to check the recommendations of your vehicle's hitch (mine was rated for 350lb tongue weight which is all my hitch can safely accommodate with this carrier). The large surface area of the top edge of the basket makes ratchet straps a breeze to secure your cargo. If you are headed on trips to the sandy beach or bringing big awkward toys to the park , use the cargo carrier you will save the interior of your vehicle. The cargo carrier also allows your vehicle to accommodate yard waste and refuse runs to the transfer station. Any one who is looking to make the most use out of their vehicle needs to consider the MaxxHaul carrier!

I received a MaxxHaul Cargo Carrier in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

  2. That's very nice. It's perfect for family trips to the beach or when you're having a picnic at the park. I think it makes bringing things a lot easier and you don't have to worry about plates or anything being damaged.
